The Good Beer Guide 2012

Camra Pub of the Year 2009
Martin and Hilary are pleased to announce that The Ivy House is listed in The Good Beer Guide 2012 for the seventh year.

We have been running this unique public house and restaurant for over seven years now and are proud to have been named Pub of the Year ( South Stafforshire Area) for four years and in The Good Beer Guide for seven.

A big thank you goes out to all our regulars and loyal CAMRA members who are constantly judging our beer quality, service and ambience.

2012, our 8th year at The Ivy House, is an exciting one with much to celebrate. We have our Queen's Diamond Jubilee and Olympics to look forward to. Watch this space.

Welcome to the Ivy House

Ivy House Pub
Hilary, Martin and family welcome you to The Ivy House Pub..

The Ivy House dates back to the 19th Century when it provided for the needs of the coal miners and canal workers of Newtown. It is first listed on the Ordnance Survey map of 1834. One of the first publicans, listed in the census of 1861 was David Collins who was also an iron puddler.

On the old A34 route in the centre of Newtown, it is well situated and easy to locate. The building has a good sized car park to the side and a large beer garden. Walking into this traditional style pub brings you into a warm and very friendly atmosphere where you immediately feel amongst friends.

There is a great food selection here which complements an award winning, well kept selection of Marston's Beers and Ales.  Proud winners of C.A.M.R.A. Pub of the Year 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009.

We are a traditional pub in design and ambiance. There are five indoor areas and a large beer garden at the rear, with wonderful views. We don't have a juke box with loud music and bad language is not tolerated.

This sets an excellent environment for enjoying a relaxing and entertaining time with friends.  We have CCTV for your comfort and safety.

There is an outdoor covered smokers area in the rear garden with lighting, heating and seating- making it as comfortable as possible.

We have a 'driver's' shelf of non alcoholic drinks.... and we can cater for parties.

Our Ales

AlesWe stock a range of specialty ales which can be enjoyed in the friendly atmosphere of our friendly bars, the newly refurbished dining, or our beer garden at the rear of the building. Our guest ales change every few days, a full list of ales available can be found on our Real Ales page.

We have a large range of wines and spirits also soft drinks for the younger folk.  We serve two guest ales every day, see below for this months selection.

We have a smokers shelter which is heated for the winter months.

Disabled customers are welcome and we have facilities for wheelchairs which is currently through the archway and garden.  New access, through the original front door, with disabled toilets and an extended restaurant making it very wheelchair friendly. There is also a baby changing room for families to use.

We hold two Beer Festivals a year, the main one in the garden in June and a mini festival, within the pub, around October.
